Meet my new company, Automate.clinic
Posted by Jay on
Since 2007, I’ve built medical practices— hired doctors, acquired patients, and built all the infrastructure they need to deliver exceptional care with one clear goal— delight patients with the right care.
But the world has changed in the last few years hasn’t it? And I’m not the type of guy to sit around and watch as the world passes me by. I’ve got to be in the thick of it.
So, today, our team is launching a new company that powers a new kind of medical practice. But instead of our doctors treating patients, we’re treating AI models.
Meet Automate.clinic. We’re a medical practice specialized in training and fine-tuning healthcare AI models. We contract with companies building healthcare AI.
Why? Because accuracy is paramount. Patient lives are on the line. And 80% accuracy won’t cut it. While models are getting more accurate, all the best minds in the field agree that the current general foundational model approach will hit limits. Continued improvement needs slow, sector-specific learning loops, not just bigger general models.
So that’s why we exist— to create sector-specific learning loops to help companies building AI models chase perfection.
If you’re a doctor, it’s a fascinating new way to leverage your expertise, flexibly. We don’t specialize in labeling data— that’s boring and tedious. We specialize in helping AI models understand how you think about complicated clinical situations. It’s surprisingly similar to communicating with real patients, but you’re actually interacting with a super smart GPT asking you hard questions about cases. And your answers teach models how to think like a doctor.
And most healthcare AI companies aren’t in the business of hiring and managing a group of doctors. Companies don’t have their own servers farms, they outsource to AWS. With Automate.clinic, they now have a scalable way to outsource collecting structured, machine-readable clinical intelligence about their models from doctors who specialize in training AI models.
I’m super excited to be back in the game of founder and CEO. We’ve got a fantastic team. In fact, we got some of the Sherpaa band back together. One of the greatest joys in life is working with your favorite people.
If you’re a doctor interested in this new era, join us. If you’re a company, let’s talk.
